Kellogg’s management has relied on internal resources for most of its history and has rarely resorted to external borrowing. For this reason, Kellogg almost always in its history had a reserve of funds and freedom of financial action. Therefore, the first thing that many employees of this company note, both in the world and in the USA, are quite high salaries and bonuses. Initial phone interview

If your resume and expertise fit the company you will get a call from Kellogg’s HR agent to make the first interview. This is a short phone talk for about 15-20 minutes. It serves to verify details of your resume, your availability and to make the first impression about you as an individual and a prospective employee of Kellogg.

We recommend following a few rules for the first interview. So, do not forget to:

  • say that you are eager to get job in Kellogg, that you want to build a career in this company and stay with it for years;
  • tell that you are ready to learn even if you lack some knowledge, and you want to grow;
  • don’t’ forget to thank the interview for his or her attention to you and his or her time.

These 3 simple rules of the initial interview can help to demonstrate your motivation, intellect and attention. And usually this is enough to get your invitation to the next step – Kellogg’s SHL aptitude tests.

Kellogg’s SHL aptitude tests

Kellogg uses CEB SHL aptitude tests to assess the intelligence and professional skills of all candidates for office and management positions. Please note that tests at Kellogg do not apply to all vacancies. Applicants for jobs in factories are invited for a face-to-face interview immediately after the first telephone interview.

But, if you are applying for any office job, management position, or sales job, then you should prepare for the tests at Kellogg. Testing includes the following three sections:

  • intelligence aptitude tests (numerical reasoning test, verbal reasoning test and abstract reasoning test);
  • situational judgement tests;
  • personal questionnaire.

SHL numerical reasoning tests for Kellogg always include complex tables, graphs or charts followed by 4-5 answer options. Answering the questions requires you to demonstrate basic math skills and perform calculations using fractions, percentages, ratios, and conversions.

The verbal reasoning test consists of short passages of text and a statement related to each passage. The SHL verbal test will require you to quickly assess whether a statement is true, false, or indefinable based on the text.

Abstract reasoning tests are a sequence of abstract figures. You are required to find the rule that is common for this sequence and select the next frame that will continue it.
