A narrow specialization will not help you make a career – you have to understand several related topics. This way you can see the big picture and contribute more to the project and your career growth.

You don’t want to change your employer

Another reason why you don’t get promoted is that there is simply nowhere to grow in your current company.

Perhaps you have reached your career ceiling in the company – the company is too small, and no one needs your excellent knowledge in marketing. Or the boss simply cannot financially afford such a wonderful specialist.
